How do you repair a dryer paddle for the Maytag MDE7600AYW?

One of the dryer "paddles" broke loose from the screws and I wanted to try to re-fasten the screws to the paddle. How do I get the the screw heads?

Were you able to replace it? I have the same problem, but for the life of me can't figure out how to get the top lid of the dryer open
