How on earth do I install a 40 watt bulb and socket in the fridge section please??

If it's a standard SN class refrigerator, it is design to work correctly in western europe in rooms with ambient temperatrure between 10 and 32 degrees c. Cold garages, outhouse's, cold kitchens and any cold un-habital part of the home will prevent the appliance from working correctly. This is NOT a fault. You will find that fridge remains cold, but food in freezer is defrosting. Move appliance to warm part of house, or get a heat source in garage. 10 degrees celcious MINIMUN

Has somebody advised you to fit this ?
If so forget it, A large number of fridge/freezers will not operate in very cold situations.
Some do have a winter switch facility, check your manual for more info.
Or move it to a warmer place.
