Citroen Pluriel: boot lid and roof wont open?

On my Pluriel, the boot lid wont open, the back window demister isn't working and the roof wont open. It makes a beeping sound when I try to open the roof. Is it a fuse?

Short: If the tailgate won't open when you press the button it's because the car thinks the roof is in the wrong position and it probably is. It is probably a faulty roof motor, gear or cables. (It could be faulty micro switches or release motors but both have been more reliable IME. I did have the ABS unit fail and that stopped the roof from working.) Roof reset seems to be press up on the roof switch for 30secs - if you hear a machine gun in the back read on.

Long story, take a seat: As of May 2021 my roof started to play up, clacking sounds and not wanting to open fully and then close fully. I sprayed the tracks with silicone (it had helped the door mirrors open smoothly), so surely that would help?! Well it did, but a month later and the tailgate wouldn't open. I got into the boot through the back seat, lay on my back looking up, removed the parcel shelf and then 4 Torx20 screws holding plastic trim and got fingers in to pull on the tailgate unlock actuators and the lid popped up. At this point the boot release button worked. So I removed the plastic trim 2xT20 under the R of Citroen to access the tailgate switch and tested it with a multimeter - all good with the switch, but not with the car.
I thought the roof might have a reset programme. The roof was closed, but perhaps not perfectly. With the roof switch in the closed position I pressed it up and there was a BRRRRR/RAT-TATATTAT/machine gun sound from the rear - Oh 5#!t, I thought (said).
So, it either needs a new gear (motor unit) or replacement cables.
Meanwhile, I have used kite string to pull on the actuators manually.
Hope this helps fellow owners.

I have since found very detailed instructions in Italian http://www.citroen-club.it/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=20272
I think it is worth doing parce que c'est le tout raison d'être pour ma voiture n'est pas?

remove the plastic cover from just inside and around the inside of the hatch window, small star screws. once removed you will see 2 white plastic plunger each side, push in and the boot will open. i tied a bit of wire to each one and around the inside button,so that when the boot shut the wire would be on the outside so i could pull to open the hatch. 15 minute job, but then you need to fix the problem

I have the same problem. My rear glass doesn't work so I can't open the boot. Maybe problem is in that botton on the back of the car just above the R from citRoen. Would someone post it how to fix it? I see that some of you got the solution. I tried to get acces from the car but I stucked.

Hi Jose & Jvruano,

Please can you post or email details on how to fix this problem. I have the same problem on my 2010 Citroen Pluriel. It just started happening a few weeks ago. Thanks so much in advance. Much appreciated.

I had the same problem with my citreon c3 it is most likely going to be the wires in the boot that have worn and disconnected! Open the boot from inside the car and check the wires that are connected from the lid to the boot and reconnect them. Hope this helps

Hi

I'm from Kosovo,

I bought a citroen pluriel c3 2004 in Germany two months ago , The dealer told me that the Electronic Part of cabrio is defective ,

The roof wont open and the tailgate .

I found in my country used part Eletronict Ecu of roof , I changed it , a tailgate start to work but cabrio no.

After 10 km drive , the tailgate wont work again ,

I purchased a new Ecu part of Cabrio in England , same thing ,

I also found same citroen c3 in my city , I tested two of my electronic parts in another citroen c3 and they booth worked also to open tailgate and cabrio , but not in my car .

I also took from him the motor of cabrio and tested on my car , but motor wont move , I hear just one click on the Electronic box of cabrio when I try to open cabrio ,

If you can help me with this please.

My pluriel didn't want to open the boot lid neither the roof. I found that the problem were some wires broken. I've some pictures about how to fix the problem. It takes a long time to repair but nothing to do with the big amount of money that the dealer will ask you for repairing saying that many expensive spare parts are needed. jvruano(at)mfvsolar.com

I've got the solution and I hve repaired mine. It takes only 5 hours but no spare parts are needed!

where are the fuses for the roof an boot cant find them

craig, February 2013
my misses has the same thing lucky the roof was closesd but it wont open an the boot wont open its a big pain with the kids pram on the back seat

craig, February 2013
If neither work then try the appropriate fuse, if only the the boot will not open then there is a good chance that the roof has not closed properly - there appears to be a safely switch that prevents the boot from opening while the roof is down

This tip for the boot opening didn't work last night, but for some reason DID work today. Phew. Had it occur before and couldn't remember how we had fixed it. There is something electronic that gets 'confused' occasionally. Then seems to sort itself out! Thanks for helping us to focus our minds on this problem. One of a couple of occasional niggles about our lovely Pluriel!

Citroen Pluriel boot lid and roof wont open?

cybant, September 2010
had the same thing with the boot and nothing would cure it. couldn't even open it from inside.

seeing you say it was the roof too, i thought i'd try and open it. it opened (1 notch only - too risky to open any more when it's freezing fog!) and then closed successfully.

guess what? then the boot opened. maybe there is some connection there....

did you find a cure?
