As I was vacuuming my carpet, without running over anything on the carpet, the power shuts off on my hoover elite vacuum cleaner with model# U5071930. Where it the reset buttom or could it be some other problem?

Commonly, what happens is one of the connections in the motor housing breaks apart. It's usually the place where the motor field winding meets the switch. It takes electrical and soldering experience to repair this correctly. If you do take it in for repair, mention my suggestion. Most likely, they have seen it often as well.
