How do I fix broken pull rope on old B and S 7 HP engine?

Broke the pull rope on old (35+yrs) Bobcat snowblower with 7 hp Briggs and Stratton engine. Doesn't look easy to remove pull rope housing. Do I need to take it to small engine repair place? Thanks

The whole cowling assembly complete with the recoil casing is removed in one go. 3 or 4 bolts - 1 or 2 on the head and 2 on the crankcase. Depending on what it's mounted on, access may or may not be a problem.

While you're in there, I suggest you convert to electronic ignition by replacing the coil assembly, as unless you know it's good, it's highly unlikely to have lasted 35 years. I can supply a replacement (good used) coil for £15 +P&P. Just need your engine model, type and code numbers to ensure I supply the correct one.
