Snow Thrower Repair?

I have a 2 year old Craftsman 9HP Snow Thrower that has had limited use. The Auger Housing broke in two and half slid down the worm shaft toward the impeller. A piece of the left side housing is missing, exposing the shaft and the parts that are on the shaft. The auger stops when it contacts a snow pile. The housing pieces can be purchased from Sears for around $44.

How difficult a repair is this and will I need to buy additional parts.

There is a minor adjustment that will ensure the drive pulley is not slippping. This should resolve your problem.

I have an ariens 1124 pro snow thrower and have noticed that the gear shift and relative speed for each notch have slowed and have difficulty in an upgrade moving position. What would cause the speed to diminish? How can I rectify this problem.

this job is time intensive. you need to remove the whole auger assy. you have to disconnect all the pulleys that drive the auger to pull it out. if your mechanical you can do it. the only problem you might have is getting the pulleys loose if they're rusted. might need a torch.
