Can i get a valve for the power max 155?

we were told recently by a british gas engineer that when a valve on our power max 155 combi boiler goes that we will need a new boiler as they no longer make parts for this model, is this true?
Also, his college then came and quoted £5500 for a new boiler with eqivilent capabilities to the 155, is this a reasonable quote for this product?

Powermax now owned I believe by Baxi Potterton Group.

This site shows some Powermax spares...

And I'm sure there are other places too...

Answers to your two questions...

Is this true? Probably not true
Is this reasonable? Probably very unreasonable?

depends what valve you are talking about. there are major parts which are not available for the powermax, but as far as I know all "valves" whether water or gas are still available
