how do i fix my recliner???

i have a lane recliner that was a hand-me-down from my father-in-law. my wife sat on my legs one day while i had it reclined and now the foot part falls to the floor when extended all the way and any pressure is put on it. the only thing that eventually stops it is the handle hitting th ground. does anybody know how and if i can fix this???

We have always said that the trouble with most recliners is double occupancy. But to answer your question, either the linkage itself is broken or a rivet is broken. Either way it requires the mechanism to be replaced. Check out --stocktonfurnitureco.com -- for the fastest solution to this problem, we have been repairing recliners for 24 years, and we hardly ever run up on one that can't be repaired.

You need a new mech. If the tag info and serial # is still on the chair(under the footrest) you can contact Lane and they will send a new mech. for free. You can install it your self or have someone like a furniture repairman come do it for a charge.Find a furniture store that sells lane and they will have the toll free number. If you live near Clinton, Iowa I can help you as I am a Lane tech. jimpatti@gmail.com
