ball joint?

can anyone tell me if this is an expensive job and how urgently does it need to be done. i think it is the ball joint on the front passenger side wheel and there is a clunking noise.

Most ball joints are part of a lower suspension arm and you are somtimes just as cheap to replace the whole arm ,most front wheel drive modern cars are off this set up

If you know someone that can do it for you then its cheaper as you can buy most lower arms quite cheaply from ebay and get them fitted yourslef ,main dealers will charge you a small fortune for the parts and there labour charge

hello helen. firstly it could be anything such as bottom ball joint, cv joint, wishbone bushes, track rod end. your best bet is to get it checked out asap. CONTINUING TO DRIVE THIS IS DANGEROUS. this is because something could break while you are driving causing you or the driver to lose control. if you do get someone to identify the problem, you can buy the relavant part from a discount auto centre such as EURO CAR PARTS, HALFORDS, DISCOUNT AUTO PARTS etc.this will save you money rather than buy from main dealers. for fitting someone could charge you from £50 to £100 approx. i hope this helps you. good luck.
