On off fault with fridge freezer?

I have a fridge freezer fitted into the kitchen cupboards so at this stage ive not got to look at the make and model. My problem is the fridge stops working after an hour or two. To start it again i give a tap to the small unit inside the fridge that houses the bulb etc. I have looked inside the unit and all the wiring seems ok. When the fridge stops working the bulb stays on It just goes silent. Give it a tap and you hear it start up again. Its got me baffled. Please help !

....ok ... found lots of 60/40 split intergrated units (should have searched first)

I'd still love to know what is happening to my APM 6826 :(

I have the same problem as "Fed Up In The Cotswolds".

The fridge part of mine (Diplomat APM6826) has decided to become a freezer, no matter where I position the dial, it forms a crust of ice down the back and frezzes anything in the crisper drawers. I keep defrosting it but it is gradually getting worse!

I am unaware of the 60/40 split issue though :(

Has anyone found a 60/40 replacement???

Thanks in advnace to anyone that can offer some advice!

Looks like this model isn't so reliable. The fridge part of mine (Diplomat APM6826) has decided to become a freezer, no matter where I position the dial, it forms a crust of ice down the back and at the bottom and freezes all veg instantly, turning them to mush. Keep defrosting it but it just gets worse. It's integrated but splits 60/40, so guess what, I can't replace it with a different type as all the new ones split 50/50 or 70/30, so my outer doors won't fit them.

Hi Andy,
You stated earlier that you have already dismantled the thermostat housing.
Just reverse engineer the fitting, remembering the position of each wire you remove.
I should think you will have no problems.
I believe there is no web page with instructions.
Google Diplomat for MFI.

Brilliant Thanks mate. Will report back and let you know. Is there a webpage of fitting instructions that you recommend ?

Hi Andy,
Dilomat are part of the Hygena/MFI group.
You can oder parts direct from them.
I have not ordered any parts recently and do not know if the parts section is affected by the collapse of the MFI group.
Good Luck.

Hi Andy,
Try looking inside the fridge by salad drawers for name plate, most are sited there or in freezer.

Cheers tone. Took the cupboard doors off but there is no name or model on the front doors. Would it help if i took a photo of the thermostat and emailed it to you ?

Hi Andy,
You problem is your thermostat.
By whacking it you are making the contacts make and start up the motor, you need a new one but with no make or model I am unsure if you can fit a generic one or require exact replacement from makers.

Me again. Its now requires more of a thump than a tap to get it running again.
