Where is the Thermostat located on a 1995 BMW 525i?

The temp gauge on my 95 BMW keeps going to the red zone!!! I have no leaks that I'am aware of and,I have replaced the radiator cap and that has not worked. So now I think it could be the thermostat? Any suggestions? I would like to know where the thermostat is located? Thank You for your time

check vicous fan turns with some force and shifts some air at tickover, common for coupling to fail, fan only slips round

under your thermostat housing which is where your top radiator hose connects on your engine opposite end of radiator make sure you get a new gasket with your new thermostat. your problem could be your temperature sending unit your local napa store can usually test those before you spend $40.00 or more. good luck!
