When turning on the switch the waste disposal just hums...and does nothing else..before this it was noisy as hell when churning the food...I don't know a thing about insinkerators as it came with the house I am renting...do I have to empty it..or get it serviced..I don't know what to do some one please helpppp!!!

I had that problem just today... Something is stuck in it keeping it from spinning... I used a large long screwdriver (with the switch off) and going against the outside surface, I turned it counterclockwise and it worked fine... Be careful and I hope it works for you...
