I'm not familiar with Whirlpool model numbers. If this is a direct drive machine it may have a filter in the center of the agitator. If it does not, it's between the inner and outer tubs. You have to remove the cabinet, pull the agitator and inner tub. Not an easy job. All can be done with standard tools except the inner tub has a large nut you need a special wrench to remove. Google the web and you will find lots of help on this. The older belt drive machines have various kinds of lint filters. Do a search for your model number and you may find some help
