my washer won't agitate, the spin cycle works and empties the water. It just won't agitate. what do we do?

I have a washer model # mere 1065howw it will wash ok it will spin and empty ok on rince sycle
the washer quit ontill I push the wash (start) putton
then the wather come very sloly ontil tub fill up
(2 houres lather) and resume wash.
