How can I fix my petrol generator?

My 6.5 hp petrol generator wont start. There's a spark at the plug but makes no attempt to start, don't know how to take carborator apart. Generator was not run for the last 6 weeks. Would petrol be alright? What do I do now?

The petrol should be fine if only 6 weeks been stood. Somtimes these type of engine as a low oil cut out on them so make sure the oil is up to the level. Tap the float bowl with a very small hammer or spanner to make sure the float bowl isn,t stuck. It also might be worth unscrewing the bolt at the bottom of the carb to make sure petrol is coming through
Failing that its carb off for a clean
