fumes from gas fire?

I have a coal effect gas fire a few years old,
It seems to emit a little sooot into the room. I have a Co2 sensor in the room and all seems ok.
One of the coals has soot on it.
Any thoughts on what it might be.??

All modern gasfires burn with a yellow flame so getting soot on a few coals is normal nowadays. The manuals usually tell you to turn the fire to full to burn it off.You can take the coals out and brush them down, but do a drawing first on where they fit back.If you do ring British Gas,Transco will come but if you have mentioned fumes to them expect it to be cut off.You are better off ringing your own Corgi guy who will check it out on the one visit.
