my dyson dc04 has lost suction?

my dyson dc04 has lost suction. I,ve tried the obvious
such as emptying the dust compartment, checking the
brush is not wound round with twine, ensuring the accessible
tubing is not blocked. any suggestions?
the cleaner is the silver and lime one.

I have exactly the same problem - I put my hand under the brush and can feel that air is being sucked in, but when in use it does not suck up even simple dust in one go like it used to. I have to go over and over it, hard work, and then the floor or carpet never looks really clean.
Does the machine have a limited life? - I'm seriously thinking I have to buy a new one.

the only answer i can give is for you to chack all the seals against the main body and the rubbish container,if they are weak for any reason they must be renewed.you need a good seal rather than a weak seal.Vacum cleaners work like car engines they work better with back presure and most of all no leaks.

Just as a follow up.. i've found out that the minimum brush length should be no shorter than 6mm, if it is it will not be making contact with the surface, hence not pick anything up.

I've the same problem as John and Heen7, i've replaced all hoses. The suction to the head is fine but no suction through the head. Where the base plate fits to the head there are strips of rubber which act as a type of gasket to seal the head and baseplate, i''ve even tried to add to this seal to create a better seal. No difference unfortunatley. Did any of you guys manage to resolve the problem?

hi, i have got the same problem...the suction from the hose is really powerful, but there is no suction at all coming from the bottom which is weird. I've cleaned all the pipes, filters and the bin and made sure there is no blockages!!! Can anyone help me??

Heen7, February 2009
check the small internal hose underneath the hoover, this may help. It could have come off or is split.

yes, there appears to be loss of suction in the bottom 4 inches. I've checked the hose and the're no splits or breaks and there is suction at the brush head end, although not brilliant. unfortunately when you put thebottom plate on there is no suction. It appears it is not strong enough for some reason.

Mine has lost suction also at the brush end. The hose is still fine but there doesn't seem to be enough at the bottom to pick anything up

Have you tried washing the filter which is located in the top of the machine. They should be washed (and dried before refitting), every six months.
