Car engine gets hot but the heater blows cold air only? What could be the problem?

check your water/coolant level. Had the same problem myself and found the header tank empty. Radweld did the trick and all perfect now.

I would be suspicious of a blown head gasket - check your oil filler cap - if there is a "scummy" deposit this is probably the case
