Peugeot 106 M reg ignition key?

I thought my ignition key had broken in the lock only for the AA man to find it on the floor. This was after he had fiddled with the ignition and now the spare will not go fully in. I think he must have done something when messing.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Try turning the steering wheel a bit! Sounds daft, but with my son's 106, I could not get the key fully in, but on turning the wheel to the left agains the security stop, the key then went fully home.
Alternatively, later 106's have a chip in the key fob which can fail after a few years. Think yours might be pre- chip though. Hope this helps.

I have tried WD40 with no luck. It gets about 5mm from going in and its a block. I did think it might be something to do with the bit that goes in the slot on the key.

Bill,

Try spraying WD40 down the ignition barrel and leave for a few minutes, I've came across this problem in the past.

Good Luck
