Bissell 3750 Upright will not stay in the upright position?

I have a bissell Liftoff Upright vaccum model 3750. The unit will not stay in the upright position. There is a plastic cover that has a lip on the back which locks and allows the unit to stay upright. So when you press the foot pedal in the back it will normally release so you could push the unit around the floor. I called Bissell and requested that they send me the part and they refused. They said I had to bring it to their Authorized reair shop. I know how to fix it; but can not find the piece anywhere. Does anyone know where I could buy this plastic cover?

Hi, I think this is what you are looking for:

http://www.4bissell.co.uk/cgi-bin/product.pl?PID=972455&query=Bissell%203750%2dE%20pedal&model=3750%2dE&path=58757

Not cheap though at £6 plus £5 delivery!

Perhaps ask if they will see you just the pedal at your local service centre?

Not really a solution but I also have a Bissell 3750 Lift Off. Yesterday my pedal broke for the second time (first time it was under warranty) and my grandparents also have the same vacuum and their pedal broke two months ago. It appears this is an inherent fault.

I used to manage a market stall for my brother and we had a few types of catch plates. So try your local market and look for stall selling cleaner bags and accessories. or some small vac repair shops may help.
the lip wears I've even glued a piece of plastic on to form a new lip, filed down to size. Used polypipe or any poly pipe cement it causes a weld joint by melting slightly the plastic.
