Sorry for dumb sounding question - my relatively newly installed bosch hob (its a 4 burner one, about 2 years old)had been disconnected during a gas check due to a small leak. One of the knobs for burner rings also turns round without being pressed down for ignition too, if you see what I mean. Is this a source of possible fault? Am confused as I thought the Bosch had a device to check of no flame would cut out gas. Shall I just go out and install new one (annoying) or is this a relatively simple repair and any idea of approx cost to repair and call out for a corgi installer? Live London. Many thanks

If it`s just the plastic knob that`s faulty,it should be cheap enough to source a new one.However if it`s the tap assembly,by the time you get a new one and get an engineer to dismantle the hob ,fit it,then reassemble and test.You could easily be looking at 2 to 3 hours labour and the price of the part.
I seldom repair hobs these days,they`re so cheap it`s just as easy to replace.
Of coarse it`s possible,just possible that it might be a 15 job to fix.
Get a reputable Corgi Engineer round(one who is qualified to work on cookers) and see what he says.

Don`t get British Gas round,they`ll tell you ,you need a new boiler;p

Your question is not dumb - just badly formed...

Has the hob ever worked in its current location?
Has the gas leak been repaired?
Has the hob been reconnected to the gas supply?
Does the dodgy knob actually work?
Do the other knobs operate correctly?
Do you still have the user manual?

In short - what is wrong with what?
