snapper rider problem?

I have a snapper riding mower. When i start the engine it runs fine but when i release the clutch the engine dies. it sounds like some kind of safety switch. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks

thers a sfatey swich that sits on the side ofthe engine that has the carebuter on it its located fight on the metal fram its small u can disconnect it and it wont hurt the engine it save u a whole lot of a head ach

Seat switch is not usually in the START circuit. Does the same thing happen if you release the brake? If so, DEFINITELY seat switch.

if it were the seat switch it wouldn`t crank so look on the lever and attaching levers for when you lower the blades ..there should be a safety switch for when lowering the blades ..............bg
