My upper thread keeps breaking on my Toyota RS2000?

My upper thread keeps breaking within seconds of me using it.

I am trying to sew a thin quilt, zig-zag stitch.

Thanks for your posting.
The tension is set at 5 but I've had the same issue at various tensions.
The needle is in correctly.
To be honest, I wouldn't know what size thread goes with what needle as I am a novice but it has happened with 2 different threads now, one of which I am confident about.
I can't see any rough edges on anything.
The only thing I can think of is that I may have the wrong foot. The foot it came with has an indentation on both the right and left sides for the thread to sit in. I am used to a needle with a slot at the front and the thread sitting in the middle (a standard foot) which I have ordered a standard foot. Do you think this could be my issue?

Hello Annette,
Check the basics first, right size thread for the needle, needle in the correct way round, top tension not too tight, normally between 4 and 6, no rough edges on the needle plate or bobbin case.
