How to fix slide hook next to button on slacks?

Hi,
The exterior hook part of the slide is missing, the other half is still inside the waistband. I removed both parts from another pair of pants hoping to "transplant" them, but now that I see the whole apparatus, it's really more like a hook that's been stapled thru the two holes on the base. I can probably pry the staple parts up, but then will need o open the waistband to insert the base? I hope this makes sense to someone out there. I'm new to sewing and this is way over my head. (And, btw, an emergency sort of. My husband needs to wear these to a golf tournament starting in a couple hours...)

Buy new pants.

I've had to fix them twice. If you can work by touch alone. Modify the staples with a pair of needle noes pliers so they all face down. maneuver the base part to the correct location. Rotate it so the round part points away from the end. Now try and get them through the holes and flatten the staples with your pliers once they are through. If your good, you wont have sharp metal spikes sticking out side of your pants. Maybe I'll look into sewing.

hi, i think my problem is the same as yours was (in January?) Did you ever find a solution to fix the slide hook. Mine's on man pants also; hook and eye not strong enough.
thanks

Buy a hook and eye which you can sew on to the trousers to replace the other one
