renault scenic t reg?

my 99 scenic is loseing water from the bottom of the fan belt area,i think the water pump,its a small leak and a friend has advised maybe to put some radweld in ???how can i tell if the water pump is working thanks

it is the water pump but do not put anything into the system to stop leaks as this will cause the heater to block up and yet more expense.
