I've been through this one myself, and had to kinda settle. Due to the 2000 escort I was dealing with, the round design of the radio is nearly impossible to duplicate with an alternate head unit. What I had to do is install a 6 disk CD changer in the trunk (had to drill my own holes and bolt it to the underside of the back windshield "shelf" (between the two speakers)). You have to be careful with what you buy, and be absolutely sure that the changer is able to be read through a common station that the tuner can get to (factory setting is 98.1 FM but can be programmed to what you want). It's kinda a pain because you have a seperate control for the changer to worry about, but the owner doesn't mind. Hope this helps a little.
