has my mondeo got a cam beil or chain ?

i have a 03 1.8 Lx mondeo with duratec engine , does anybody know if it has cam belt or chain , its done 80k + so it needs changing if its a belt . If its a chain does it need servicing or renewing at any point ?

haha you must be from the flintstone ages duratec he ford engine are chain not belt

It will have a duratec HE engine I think which has a timing/cam chain - not belt.

Ford advise you get it checked at 100k but they are pretty tough but can get rattles etc when older

thanks bob ,are you 100% sure i have been told that the mk3 mondeos are chains , no one seems sure

My book says 80,000 or 5yrs get it done if it breaks it willl cause a lot of damage.
It's a belt they did away with chains in the in the Flintstone vehicle erra.
