ignition for pilot light vulcan continental boiler?

I have just replaced the thermocouple however when trying to ignite the boiler found the wire on the ignition switch was shorting. This wire is very thin and difficult to cut back and fit to clips. Any suggestions on a replacement. Instructions on the boilers says remove plug from boiler front and use a taper however I don,t think this is an option as Ithink it will not budge

Anyone know where to get spares for these Vulcan Verona back boilers? Had a look on ebay and google couldnt see anything.

We are having problems keeping the pilot lite on (has gone out twice in last month).

Will be replacing the whole thing in 6 months and we just need it to keep going through this winter.

Looking to buy a new thermocouple to keep it going.

Best boiler made as far as im concerned.Whatever you do dont take the glass out as there is a seal at the back of it which could fall to pieces and the glass is prone to crack if you put it back in incorrectly. The big iron bung in the front will come out but it may need a bit of forcing. Now the interesting bit with regards to lighting the boiler.Get either a drinking straw or take a pen refill out and put a match in the end of it.Get someone to push the gasvalve button down but strike the match on a matchbox and push the holder thro the hole as the match attempts to light. This way the flame wont keep blowing out with the wind when you get close to the hole.Get the person to hold it in for 30 secs then let go slowly. It should stay on,but if it doesnt its possible the t/couple has burnt thro.Even these are easy to change on the 45/60 as you do not need to take the burner tray out.
