I have a DC 04 Dyson and the cable has broken near the switch?

I need to get the grey plastic suround of around the yellow push button . very fustrating , will need to know what is holding it down . I am an electrican so from there on will be plan sailing . Thanks

That was dead handy finding that answer, the cable on the Dyson we have broke in the same place. Managed to release the yellow push button with a thin long screw driver. The screw underneath has a torx head

Cheers stewart, worked a treat . I phoned the helpline on the side off the vacum. They told me they couldnt tell me how to get if off . I they did I may electricute myself and then sue them. What a load of clap. thanks again .

when you look at the push button from the top,you will that it has a flat side. find something that will slide down the flat side, e.g. a feeler gauge etc, push this down until it displaces a catch on the inside of the switch.its a bit fiddly but the button will slide up out of the housing.you will find a philips screw holding in the button enclosure.after that its a doddle to repair the mains cable.
