Singer Sewing machine Model 7444?

Singer sewing machine model 7444. Having problems getting case apart-all screws removed. Need to replace broken jack pin harness for foot controller.

I can't seem to get a straight stitch. It seems to gather the material when I get it going and I don't know what to do to fix the problem. Am I threading it wrong??

Hello Thomas,
you will have a devil of a job getting the body apart if the machine is a two piece body machine, there are plastic clips on the inside that snap in when the case is put together and you have to locate them and prise them apart without breaking them.
