when starting a cycle on my hotpoint wf 240 it fills with water then three lights start to flash and the machine empties the three lights are the on/off button (rapid) and the energy save and rinse hold buttons (slower) this continues for approximately three minutes with no response from anything the i can use the on off button to turn it off anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is ........any help would be greatly appreciated

It's not an answer. We have exactly the same problem with the same flashing lights.Anybody know the solution?

Not an answer - just the question - did you you ever get an answer to this? My WF240 went the same way last night - a big bang and tripped the fuse on the mains power circuit, then when I put power back on again, three lights flashing as you mention.

Had same problem - couldn't find manual to tell me what it meant. Bought FINISH dishwasher cleaner and ran it on hottest cycle - that seems to have done the job. Then I found the manual and it says to phone Hotpoint with info on which lights are flashing - I don't need to anymore, but here's the number for you -08709 066 066 - they'll need to know the model number and the serial number- Good Luck
