you have a broken heater wire that when you press the plates together remakes the connection
you will find which one it is by moving each plate individually, also to confirm this when they are on but no light if you were to go into a dark room the light will probably be glowing very dim, a spare heater will cost you in the region of £5 on ebay, if you need more info contact louis211 via ebay
