When I tried to update ZoneAlarm anti-virus from Checkpoint. A message came up saying True Vector was not working thus I lost protection against viruses. Please help.

Uninstall and reinstall Zone-Alarm

make sure you do not have a second firewall or anti-virus software installed, and just to be sure run a trend-micro malware scan http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

this will scan your computer for viruses and malware without a full install on your computer (it can take quite a long time to run)
