My drill is smoking from the brushes area, how do i get the brushes out. I removed the rear cap and pulled back the spring and tried to remove the brush, now I am lost, how do I disconnect the wire braid to attached to the brush?

if you split the drill in half you will see the wires, they come from the switch im sure. things will be more transparent to you then.its quite straight forward and you will have more space to work.good luck

and you will see item # 22 (brush box). It is a whole brush assembly and they will just clip into the motor. Grab a screwdriver and pry the old brush assembly out and replace with a new set item # 603754-01.
