Indesit IDL 500 Dishwasher Fault?

My Indesit IDL500 is not working. When I initially turn it on, the machine empties, but the cycle does not continue.

The heating element gets very hot, and I think it would stay on if I left it.

There is salt in the machine (now, though not initially), and the filter is clear.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

was there any water in the tray under ur d/washer to find out the easy way to check is to pull the machine out
tilt it back so that it sits against the work top if water comes out the back (dont panic it will only be a cup or so ) if there is no water then one off your float valves are on that stops water entering the machine sometimes you can clear this yourself if your handy with a screw driver . ALWAYS SWITCH OFF AT MAINS OR UNPLUG MACHINE

I have a similar fault with my Indesit d61duk dishwasher. I installed a new water inlet valve [ thinking that was jammed]but that did not cure it and am thinking of what to do next. presently thinking about the timer but will seek some more advice before spending70 pounds!
