range rover 4.6 p38?

having difficulty pushing caliper pistons back, is there a certain way they are pushed back or do i need a special tool???
Leon, January 2009
I just did my front brakes in the last couple of weeks. The pistons were definately NOT treaded on mine. I used a piston compressor (about $10-15 at auto shop, but a C or F clamp would achieve same thing), and one of the old brake pads so I could compress both pistons at the same time. Visit http://www.rangerovers.net/maintenance/brakejob4.html. It was very straight forward. Both brakes done in 30mins

they might not be able 2 be pushed back. some are wind-back calipers the pistonshould have some little grooves to wind it back, u do need the correct tool though! it goes in clockwise too.
