Mondeo mk3 problems?

My mondeo 1.8 mk3 has a couple of noises! The first is a regular tapping noise which I have put down to the top half of the engine. But there is also a loud knock but not regular. Could it still be a piston?

If there is a knocking noise this could be the big end bearing shells, they will be disintergrating. this will need urgent attention. if this goes it will be a big job and a new engine.

My noises were coming from the flywheel that had split, and it was quite hard to locate the noise source. Check upon that, as it's made of two pieces of metal joined with rubber, so it might snap at some point, as it did on mine...

this could be the inlet manifold flaps starting to break up.get it checked out as they can totally fail and wreck the engine!
