Baumatic B180SS SINGLE ELECTRIC OVEN problem with element/ thermostat?

I recently replaced the element in my Baumatic oven after the cooker tripped the switch in my CB unit following which the old element no longer worked but all other oven functions did but since I replaced the element, the oven no longer seems to be controlled by the thermostat, I cannot regulate the heat once it is switched on so it is cooking too fast and burning food. The element becomes red hot literally within minutes of turning it on. Is it possible that I have connected the new element wrongly? The replacement element is 2500w, 3 turn. Any advice greatly appreciated

Perhaps the old element overheated and failed because the thermostat was faulty. In any case, it's evidently faulty now.

I have exactly the same problem. The thermostat was initially responsive to the temperature dial but then the oven kept on heating. Any suggestions?

don't think you can connect the element wrong.when the oven is hot can you switch the element on and off by turning the thermostat up and down (clicking)?
