Hello,My mondeo started to sputter, smoke out the back then finally completly deid after a few miles and cannot get it restarted again.. I tried to do a dashboard self diagnosis I got as far as the DTC said there was no faults but the little reset button isnt working right need to press it with all my might to change that's if it even changes,anyway I was thinking it could possibly be the electric fuel lift pump at the tank, I have no clue about diesels but seeing it was an electric lift pump I took the hoses off the fuel filter and turned the key on and there was no diesel coming out, I would think the pump being electric there should be diesel coming out? Would the lift pump be the problem?

yes it is the lift pump if you put your hand on it and its not buzzing its dead it should always buzz when engine running change it and it be fine
