Any advice: Rover 25 (2001) engine steaming, no heating internally either?

First I realised my heaters were not working when driving home yesterday (cold air), it was not long before I could smell a slight burning scent. Before long I saw alot of steam coming from the engine too. My oil and water (with anti-freeze) were both very low, even though these were topped up about a month ago. Would really appreciate any feedback on what could be the cause?! Oh yeah, I had the head gasket changed about 2 years ago. Many thanks for reading...

rover25 very prone to head haskets , when stripping down make sure head is skimmed and new type gasket fitted ,hardly any problems after that

Its most probable your headgasket has gone again or the liners have moved, in which case its all got to come off again. You wouldnt be better off buying a second hand engine, sorry but thers no need repairs should cost 550-600 tops. If you have the new multi layer style gasket fitted you should find that much better as we have fitted loads of these to vehicles and have yet to have any come back.

Oh and btw i work for a Mg/Rover specialist

your hEAD GASKET MAY HAVE GONE AGAIN WHICH MAY BEEN CAUSED BY THE WATER PUMP NOT WORKING OR THE RADIATOR SENSER NOT WORKING AN ALSO THE INTRENAL RADIATOR INSIDE THE CAR ASWELL MAY B BLOCKED U NEED TO FLASH ALL THE SYESTEM TO CHECK AN DO A PRESURE CHECK ON THE HEAD GASKET TO FIND OUT. IF THERES ANY THING ESLE U WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT JUST ASK IM A MOTOR MECHANIC BY TRADE,IF YOU HUV THE REPAIR DONE IT MIGHT ONLY LAST TWO AGIAN U WOULD BE BETTER OFF BYEING A SECOND HAND ENGINE FOR THE PRICE U WOULD PAY FOR REPAIRS I THINK HOPE THIS HELPS U SOME WAY
