i have changed th engine an battery on my car and now it wont start any ideas how to fix this problem please help me im tearing my hair out

I have a simaler prob car just wouldnt start after being sat for ages , i have replace d all fuses i have not done the code by the morror thing what i have noticed when i unlock the car is that left hand side of the car indicators dont flash when the fob is pressed ??????? i have put new plugs in done continuity test through the harness , ??????????

Hey People? Does the above trick work for 2003 Laguna (Petrol) as well? Am having trouble starting my car. At the moment, am just waiting for a new keyfob! I have a four digit code for the stereo, is this the same code that I can use for the trick above?

my dealer refused to sell me the 4 digit code and asked for £70 to reset the immobilizer. Do you know which dealer is ready to sell the digits for £15. I am even ready to buy it from someone else.

Update on this. Laguna packed again today. Fob wouldn't open doors and engine wouldn't start as usual. Open door using key. This time I put WD40 within the receiver unit and hey presto everything was fine, fob worked and engine started straight away. Time will tell if solves problem.
To open receiver unit: - There is a plastic cover around unit. - Slide this towards windscreen. This should then come off - This will show inside of unit. - You'll see a small electrical board plus 5 or so wires. - Check nothing is lose and cover in WD40 - Simply slide unit back in by pulling towards mirror The fact that the car was dead and then started straight away gives me hope that this has solved my prob. Time will tell. Good luck if you try it. Let me know how it goes.

Have same problem with 96 Luguna 1.8. Dealer has given us code (for free though at first they wanted £15). This code has to be manually entered by pressing the immoblliser button next to handbrake. Follow sequence mentioned in other reply. Trouble is you have to do this each time and after 3 goes you have to wait 15 mins. Just to make it even more interesting we were give 2 codes by Renault and it's a case of trying one and then the other.
Also seen this post http://www.carsurvey.org/review_55849.html and another one which talked about water getting in the receiver unit via aerial. They fixed it by resealing around aerial and WD40 in receiver unit. Note this is the unit above the rear view mirror.
Dealers seem to want £300-£400 to fix which nearly value of the car. Hope this helps. Dumb design though to be fair have had the from new for 10 years and this is first problem.

Hi Darren,
The following worked on my '95 Laguna Rti 2.0s, take your V5 doc's and a form of ID to your Renault Dealer and ask them for the 4 digit immobiliser bypass code(They will not be happy you know about it, 2 dealers by me refused to acknowledge its existence!) it should cost around £15. Turn on the ignition and the immobiliser light will come on, press the accelerator down and the light should go off. While keeping the pedal down press the windscreen washer button on the end of the stalk(trust me on this) and you should see the immobiliser light come on on the dash. Press it for the corresponding number on the first digit of the code renault gave you e.g.if first digit 2 press twice. Lift the accelerator pedal press it back down and repeat for digit 2 of the code and so on. I have heard that some models need to press the central locking button instead of the washer button. Hope this helps but your insurance may be voided if you leave the immobiliser like this.
