do you need to skim the head of a renault megane sceinic when the head gasket blows

i would try seeing id the head is flat with a straight edge first, ive changes many off these in the past with skimming and never had a problem as long as checked before.

Hi yes most definately.
Always have the head skimmed when the gasket goes.
As a rule if it needs any more than 7 thousands of an inch taken off then your head may not be usable as the valve,s may touch the pistons when put back together on interferance engines which yours is.
