My 52 reg ford ka's heater blower is stuck on hot?

My 52 reg ford ka's heater blower is stuck on hot. I removed the radio and heater/blower assembly but there is nothing attached to the back of the heating adjustment knob! I looked in my haynes manual and it said something about flap valves and a coolant valve could these be faulty? My car also has air-con.
Any idea what I can do to fix it?

Is there a way of checking that it is this heater valve that is broke? It's just, I don't won't to do it if it turns out to be something else i.e an electrical fault with the blower heater switch?

replace heater valve under the windscreen/bonnet. location - two pipes running into the bulk head

Can't remember the exact name, but it's some kind of heater valve. Common fault on KA's. It either sticks on hot or cold heater setting. We own a 05 KA & the same fault occurred, it was fixed under warranty by Ford when the car was 1 year old. Not an expensive diy fix though.
