Accenta 8 ?

Hello everyone I have an accenta 8 alarm, we had a power cut the other night and the red power light on the control panel is off and you can not set the alarm, the back light on the control box is still working. I shut the power down in the whole house for half an hour hoping it would reset the system but while it was down the pir's round the house were still flashing but no joy from the control box. Can anyone help me to reset the box or do I need to get ripped off and call an engineer to fix it!!

Which begs the question; why do the general public have a perception of alarm installers quote 'ripping people off'?

One to muse on, perhaps.

The cause is your back-up battery (which has a life of only 3 to 5 years) is dead and needs replacing. Before replacing you will need to reset the NVM.
Ideally, you need to download the manual to do this. It is available on the web via various sites. Search "Accenta Mini 8 manual + pdf".
Then follow procedure to reset NVM (Non-volatile memory). This is basically. Disconnect power (you can pull the fuse in the CPU control box (master unit). Then disconnect any links to connectors 17 (PA) and 27 (Set). Connect a link between 17 and 27 then reconnect power. This resets the NVM. Reconnect any original links (to 17 and/or 27). To reset the Tamper warning, press 'reset' button on the control unit (i.e. in your hallway). Enter 'User Code' if need be.
~ All done ~ Except you need to replace the lead acid battery in the box. Maplin do a replacement.

Can some one please help? Accenta G3 panel. Alarm kept on going off for no reason. Pressed the user code many times and it stopped but the tamper light stayed on. Pressed the engr.code Disconnected the power and replaced the battery and also the 1A bell and strobe fuse. Switched the power back on. Now the keypad keeps on flashing and vibrating noise keeps on coming. and key pad is locked

I have the same issue with my accenta 8 and if there is a simple way to reset the whole thing I'd like to. Obviously, if the problem is that the thing is broke then I'll get a friendly engineer to come and fix it and pay the going rate.

I could quite easily, but, as I'm a alarm engineer who rips people off, I won't.

The wrong way to get help I think.
