taking off rear wheel?

i cant get the back tire off of my 172. i took off the smap ring and washer but wheel is still tight

if you have access to a air hammer, it may be able to push the wheel off of the axle with out doing much damage to the wheel.

yep he`s right I tried to pull rear wheel with puller ect heated it up with a torch to no avail....finally just cut old tire off and installed new one good luck

I asssume you can't remove the tyre with the wheel in-situ? It's difficult, but not impossible.

To get wheels off in the past I've had to fabricate a puller, and drill holes in the wheel to put the puller legs through. If you go this route, apply serious heat (from a welding torch) and apply as much pressure as you can with the puller. Destroy the wheel if you have to - it's cheaper than a transaxle.
