Battery Going Flat ford escort 1.8d?

My Battery is lossing charge when the engine is turned off i have checked all interor lights and pulled out fuses one by one but im still lossing charge. It only started two days ago i have fitted a new battery but still have same problem.

Hello, i had exactly the same problem... it was the alternator. the rectifier had worn out, it cost £40 from a local garage to recondition...works fine now. double check by putting ampmeter on positive wire and battery then remove the main cable from the alternator.

it sounds as if the alternater has given up altho it looks fine but you cant see inside it an if the bushes have gone it will not charge try changeing it....

Disconnect battery cable ..either positive or negative and install a test light between battery and cable ...it should light if you have a parisictic drain then you can isolate problem by pulling fuses or disconnecting any electrical items till the light goes off ....I have even seen a alternator draining battery down over nite ect. Might need to use a meter on some occasions ..I think anythin over 85 millie amps is considered too much draw ....your radio clock ect will show a small draw but thats normal for the clock memory ect.
