Hi there, Don't panic! Try EBAY heading advert is a little green box (MOBILE LANDROVER SERVICES) Dudley, West Midlands. My Rover 45 1.8 same engine same problem. He fixed it (a trained Rover Mechanic) now has his own business at a far less cost and Rover parts.
Get in touch with him. Hope this helps

No easy answer here. What's the car worth when fixed? £3,500?? I'd get the warranty company to pay for a head gasket repair.....if they will. Then negotiate with the HP company to enable you to sell it, quick.
