Hotpoint Aquarious CTD00P Needs Encouragement?

Hi folks, got a small problem with my tumble dryer.

When you switch it on it just makes a strange noise, almost as if the motor is struggling. The belt is fine and if you give the drum a small push in the right direction it starts going fine. It is a reverse action td and when switching from clockwise to anti-clockwise, it works fine but when changing back from anticlockwise to clockwise it needs another push to get going.

Now does this mean the motor is gone or could it be a relay or suchlike?

Also, when it first started playing up the td was still heating up but last night there appeared to be no heat being generated either.

Thanks in advance for any help, much appreciated.

Thanks guys, picking up a new capacitor today after work.

Managed to reset the thermostat last night and is building heat just nicely! :)

if drum is not spinning it needs a capacitor..and then if its not heating up it wil also need the heating elements.just replaced both 2day..
