phone line crackling?

please can somebody help,i have just changed from bt to sky,now my line is constantly noisy,i have disconnected all eqipment and plugged a new phone into the master socket also checked wiring and exchanged the sockets without success, sky claim that the line has been tested and is ok,
any thought would be appreciated

OOPS! You are NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH the backplate of that socket let alone replace it. The method that I described is the correct (and only) one to isolate the Internal Wiring.

The fault is external to you but now when you call BT to get it fixed they will be entitled to bill you for putting the right what you have monkeyed with.

Thanks T,
I have removed all wires coming into the main test socket and connected a new socket directly onto the junction box coming into the property basically isolating everything in the home,i still have crackling on the line in the replacement master socket.

Try a known good phone in the Test Socket which you will find under the faceplate of the Master Socket. If the noise goes away the fault is with your Internal Wiring and/or something attached to it. If it does not go away then you need to call Sky again as they are your service provider. BTW Service Providers do not likl calling out Openreach as it costs them money to do so,so you may need to be 'firm' with them.
