Sandy you would need to be more specific on the type of marble top it is.. Do you know if it is resin coated. is it Extreamly shiney or is it a dull polish.. Most are resin coated and it would come down to depth of scratch and color of underlying Marble..
For example most epoxy/resin coated marble coffee and dining tables can be polished with certain polishing compounds found at your local tiling store that specialises in stone tiles. if not you can always try on a small section on side of table with some car cut and polish compounds that specify that they are clear coat safe. this will only work on minor scrathes..
